Ashley+Will

Meet Ashley and Will! They are head-over-heels in love with each other and were married in Bloomington, Indiana.

Ashley, I may be a bit obsessed with your dress! Look at that hint of color. Gah!

There she is – Ashley!  Her sweet makeup artist had a pretty efficient way of handling her brushes.

Beautiful earrings, girl.  (P.S. – Happy birthday week, Ashley!)

Ashley and Will’s house was the perfect location for the ladies to get ready.

It’s Will! Making sure his hair looks good for his bride-to-be.

Will, you look dashing!

Getting ready to put those bow ties on.

The guys.

The girls.

Ashley, you are stunning.

After her makeup was finished, she looked in the mirror and then looked at me.  THIS was her reaction!

Flower girl cuteness!

Meet Will’s mom.  She rocks.  Also, see the talented lady behind her fixing her hair? That’s Jessi. Get ready to see her wedding soon!

Ashley’s maid of honor.

Will’s best man.

Do you know who has the whitest teeth in Bloomington?  This guy, that’s who.

Meet Ashley’s mom helping her with the last few details of her dress.

After the dress was on, they looked at each other and this happened.

Like I mentioned on Facebook, that image on the left wasn’t even a posed shot!  We actually just finished Ashley’s bridal portraits, and she picked up her bouquet and started talking to her bridesmaids. Those in-the-moment shots are always my favorite.

This bride was not afraid to let her precious pup near her even in her wedding dress.

Look at all these dapper men!

Heck yes! Love it.

And these gorgeous ladies! I’m crazy over all those colors.

As soon as we met Ashley, I told Nick that she was one of the bubbliest brides I’ve ever met. She just makes you want to smile all the time!

Surprise gift from Will.

Moments like this is why we do what we do. Grandma kissing her granddaughter before she walks down the aisle.

After the ceremony, Will said, “Going into the day I kinda had an idea of what she would look like, but once she walked out she was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.” (P.S. – I stole that line from their wedding video.  Credit goes to their talented videographer, Matt Rice.)

They were married at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.

And sometimes we catch Grandma and Grandpa holding hands during the ceremony.

They wrote their own vows to each other, and, if I do say so myself, they were pretty spectacular.  Part of Ashley’s vows went a little something like this, “Meeting you was fate, becoming your friend was a choice, but falling in love with you was beyond my control.”  (Quote Credit: Taken from their wedding video again – Matt Rice)

Like I’ve said many times before, I do my best to follow the bride and groom out after the ceremony to catch moments like this.

Singing a song for the ladies?

This happened after they signed their marriage license.

While we were waiting on the wedding party, we thought, “Why not grab a few portraits of these two stunning individuals?”

Check out the back of her dress!  GIRL.

The gang’s all here!

You guys have the most beautiful wedding party!

I can’t get over your portraits, friends.

Will wasn’t able to meet us last year when we met up with Ashley to discuss their wedding, but that did give Ashley a chance to tell us a little about Will. She went on and on about him and described him as an incredibly sweet man. Agreed!

We must give a shout-out to Brandy and Mitch for referring us to Ashley and Will. Gah! Thank you for sending this wonderful couple our way!

It’s all about the hands.

Umm…I can’t even handle these two. And her dress!

Sure, I’ll take an imaginary picture of my wife!

These two met each other through a friend at a Pacer’s game, started dating, and fell in love. Will took her back to a Pacer’s game to propose. The Pacers were warming up on the court when someone asked if Ashley and Will wanted a picture on the court. Ashley said, “No, thanks,” but Will insisted they do. She had no idea that he planned on proposing! She admitted that before the proposal all she was thinking about was a Philly cheese steak.  Umm…I adore you guys.

Have you fallen in love with Will yet? Carrying his wife’s shoes to the reception.

Doughnuts for the guests. They had their reception at the Bloomington Country Club.

Gah!  Ashley, you’re the best.

First dance.

I’ve never had a bride take her first bite of cake this way.  See, she rocks!

Nick’s view.

My view.

Those are Will’s parents on the right.

Challenge accepted!

That’s right.  You’re married!

Near the end of the evening, the guys joined Will outside to smoke some cigars.

My view as we left for the evening.

Ashley and Will,

YOU GUYS! Thank you for being the bubbly, sweet couple that you are. We adore you guys! Thank you for your patience and kindness. It was an honor to photograph such an important day.

Caitlynn & Nick

Sam+Brady

Sam and Brady are back on our blog for their wedding! These two were married in Spencer, Indiana.

Hello, beautiful dress image!  When I saw this location, I immediately knew that I had to hang her dress right there.

Makes my heart all fuzzy when I see the engagement images we took displayed at our couple’s venue.

Sam had no problem with her groom, Brady, stopping by as she was getting her hair done.  Sam, thanks for being so easygoing.

Touching up those lips!

Sam’s mom helping her with her jewelry.

I don’t know what it is about brides putting on earrings, but I adore that moment.

Brady!!

Know what? Now, Brady is actually Nick’s brother-in-law which means…Sam is Nick’s sister!  So this was a very special wedding for us.

Both her best friend, Angie, and her mom helped her get into her dress.

Sam’s mom put the finishing touches on her dress while Brady’s mom put the finishing touches on his suit.

First look.  How completely adorable is this?!

If you remember their engagement blog, Brady surprised Sam with a Harry Potter scavenger hunt on the day of the proposal.  He surprised her again with a Harry Potter themed gift on the day of the wedding. Go Brady!

You can’t go wrong with a handwritten letter.

Any other Harry Potter fans out there!?

Sam, you look absolutely beautiful.

One of my favorites!

As this lady drove by and saw a bride and groom, she gave a celebratory honk and thumbs-up.

Sam and Brady, thank you for being such a happy-go-lucky couple.

Yes, that’s right. Your eyes are not deceiving you. This is a bride smiling and laughing while she is standing in the rain on her wedding day.  Girl, you rock.

Oh man, another favorite!

We always bring extra umbrellas in case this exact thing happens.

Having a moment with her dad before he walks her down the aisle.

Ha! Love that shot of Brady on the left right before the ceremony starts. Now that’s a ready-to-get-married groom!

Same moment.  Nick’s shot on the left; my shot on the right.  I may have been hiding in the baptistery for the shot below. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Sand ceremony.

Again, Nick’s shot on the left; mine on the right. I love being able to shoot with my husband for many reasons, but one of them is having two different perspectives during the ceremony.

See the pastor behind them?  That’s Pastor Tim. We love that guy and have now photographed three weddings where he was the officiant.

First dance.

Things became a little emotional when it was time for the father-daughter dance.

Mother-son dance.

I adore this guy taking a picture with his cell phone.  If you look real close, he has a return address sticker on the back of it.

Hugs with best friend, Angie.  Hugs with grandpa.

And a few more portraits of these two.

Back to the dancing!

Hugs from Nick.

Brady, thanks for making my Nick happy by making him jerky for Christmas.

Last dance.

Before they left, Nick grabbed a few more shots of them as husband and wife. I’m dying over them.

Sam and Brady,

You guys are the best. I feel like the day you had was made just for you. Your happiness, enthusiasm, and love for each other is evident. We love you guys.

Caitlynn & Nick

So in my mind I was excited, but this looks like the beginning of a horror movie.

And the horror movie continues, or maybe just brother and sister love?

Okay, phew!  See, we can be normal!

September 8, 2017 - 12:28 am

Faye - I LOVE your dress shot girl! And the photos of the bride and groom in front of the grey/blue door??? I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE! Great job on a lovely wedding!

September 8, 2017 - 4:49 am

Melissa Yocum - What a beautiful day!! Love those portraits in front of the blue doors!

Chelsea+Craig

Meet Chelsea and Craig!  These two sweethearts were married at The Commons in Columbus, Indiana.

Here’s the beautiful Chelsea!

Public Service Announcement: If you can get ready in a room with some windows, that makes your images so much prettier!

That’s Craig there on the right.  He’s such a kind and thoughtful individual.

Meet Chelsea’s parents!  When she saw them at the hotel bar, she requested a photo of them together.

How gorgeous is this bride?!

Her dad secretly told me that he planned on giving Chelsea this troll after their first dance.  Chelsea and her dad used to play with trolls when she was a kid, so Ms. Troll had her own little photo shoot throughout the day (shhh!).

Selfies happening on the guys’ side.

Selfies happening on the ladies’ side.

Most of our brides are pretty serious while putting on their dress as they have a lot on their mind; however, this smile never left Chelsea’s face!

First look with her dad.

She showed off her dress, and he showed off his socks.

Time for the first look with Craig!

Gah!  That’s a favorite on the left.  We found all this greenery near their ceremony and just knew it would be the perfect spot for their first look. They walked a few blocks (in their wedding-day shoes) to see each other for the first time here!  Thanks for trusting us, friends.

They are so sweet to each other.

You guys are perfect.

Chelsea!  So pretty.  Love that you left your hair down.

Chelsea’s sister helped carry her dress and bouquet on her way to meet Craig.  Then she *discreetly – cough, cough* joined them for a few images.

Time for the groomsmen!  Definitely nailed the cool guy pose.

Ha!  I love this so much.

And the beautiful ladies!

And the whole party.

You guys!  I wish I could hug each one of you.  This wedding party also walked several blocks to meet up with Chelsea and Craig for wedding party images.  LOVE this party.

We made it back to The Commons.

Oh yeah!  Work it, guys.  Showing off those socks!

Ms. Troll wanted a little chocolate before the ceremony.

We had a little extra time in the schedule, so we were able to grab some portraits of Chelsea.  I’m dying over these.

I haven’t ever seen a real-life princess, but now I feel like I have. Chelsea, you radiate beauty.

And we didn’t forget Craig!  How handsome does this groom look?!

On the left, Ms. Troll became a bit greedy and stole their rings.  Don’t worry.  We wrestled them back from her and returned them to the right people before the ceremony.  On the right, Grandma arrived!

They had their guests each sign a piece of fabric, so they could create a quilt with all the pieces later.

It’s almost time!

Chelsea holding her mama’s hand before she walks down the aisle.

If I remember correctly, Chelsea told her dad that she needed to hear something funny because otherwise she was going to cry.  Whatever he told her worked!

Sometimes we choose black and white images over color because when you strip the color away, all that’s left is the emotion.

And he pronounced them Mr. and Mrs. McMuffin.  I mean Mr. and Mrs. McMurtrey!

After the ceremony, Nick tries to capture the wedding party walking down the aisle while I quietly follow the bride and groom to capture moments like those on the left.

Ms. Troll joining the receiving line.

During family pictures I may have bribed the flower girls with M&M’s to get some smiles.  Grandpa, here on the right, asked me why he didn’t get any M&M’s since he smiled in his pictures.  Love this guy.

Speeches from everyone in this image!  Chelsea’s dad explained that Chelsea is never on time for anything which is why she gave herself plenty of buffer time in her wedding-day schedule.  (P.S. – She rocked that schedule.)  He said there was only one time in her life when she was early for something and that was her birth.

Near the end of Craig’s best man’s speech, he said he had something private to share with everyone.  “Chelsea and Craig ARE EXPECTING!!…(long pause)….you to get on the dance floor!”

After the cake cutting, these two ladies were prepared and ready to take care of that cake.

Ms. Troll needed a drink before the first dances.

Ms. Troll finally made it into Chelsea’s hands.

Then it was time to party.

Nick’s shot on the left; mine on the right.  This flower girl’s reaction!!

Father-daughter dance on the left.  Sigh.  So much respect for this family.  On the right, doesn’t this beautiful bridesmaid look like Jasmine from Aladdin?!  Girl, you are the sweetest.  I will never forget your kind words at the end of the night.

YES!  Getting his groove on.

While their guests continued to party, we stole these two away from their reception for a few minutes.  Although it’s pretty awesome to be surrounded by hundreds of close family and friends, it’s also important to spend a little time alone as husband and wife.

On our walk back to their reception, Chelsea and I talked about how we both love the show Criminal Minds, but if it’s late at night after watching it we turn on F.R.I.E.N.D.S. to go to sleep.  Anyone else do this?

They are going to England next year for their belated honeymoon.

Back to the party!

On the left, Craig dancing with his mom near the end of the night.

“But first, let me take a selfie.”

Last dance of the night.

Chelsea and Craig,

YOU GUYS.  I can’t even handle how much we adore you both.  We loved every. single. second. of your day.  Your family and friends are so kind, and you both are two of the most thoughtful and considerate people we have ever met.  Thank you for all of your patience.

Audrey+Travis

Audrey and Travis are back on our blog for their wedding! These two were married in Bridgeton, Indiana, at the 1878 Barn.

And here’s the lovely Audrey!

Bridesmaid conversations while getting hair and makeup done included microwaved cookies, dry shampoo, and “McDonald’s tea.”

While Audrey was getting her makeup done…

Travis and his groomsmen were out golfing.

Nick told me that they finished their game right before it poured down rain.

After the rain, these beauties walked outside for a few pictures together.

Audrey, love those colors!

That’s Travis’s dad on the right.

Guys, thanks for rocking those groomsmen shots.

And the ladies! Such great smiles.

That’s right. Boots for the win!

Audrey’s bridesmaids were on it that day! They helped her make her way to Travis for their first look.

Nick’s view on the left and mine on the right.

Since they were already together, we were able to get their portraits done before the ceremony.

Eeeek!  Love the way you look at her.

One of my favorites on the left there.

Want to view their engagement session?  Click here.

Oh! Oh! Wait. Another favorite!

Girl, you look absolutely beautiful.

Tip from Caitlynn: Bring a Tide To Go Instant Stain Remover Pen to your wedding. If you get something on your dress or shirt, no problem! POOF! It’s gone just like that. Click here to order it.  You’re welcome.

Love this country wedding party.

Audrey with her mom.  Travis with his mom.

After Travis and his mama walked down the aisle.

The day doesn’t always go as planned, but this little guy made it down the aisle with his pacifier and blankie.

Time to get married!

Hugs all around after the ceremony.

It doesn’t matter where you sign your marriage license, as long as it gets signed.

First dance.

Hi bridesmaids.  You’re pretty.

Dancing with her little sister.

They partied the night away.

I’m a bit obsessed with these next two black and whites.

Audrey and Travis,

We are so happy for you both and hope that married life is treating you well. We can’t stop smiling looking at your images again and again.  Thank you for asking us to photograph such an important day!

Caitlynn & Nick

Jessica+Zeph

Meet Jessica and Zeph!  We met them at the fire station in Center Point, Indiana, for their engagement session.

Gah!  I’m gushing over all your images, friends!

Jessica, you look so pretty and are simply beaming with happiness!

Zeph is such a good guy.  When I look at this image, the word “safe” comes to mind.  After getting to know Zeph, I can tell you that he genuinely cares about Jessica’s safety.

So many favorites!

They met each other through Chrysalis.

Why the fire station in Center Point you ask?  Well, because Zeph works there!

Nobody wears firefighter gear better than you two.

Stop it.  Seriously, you guys are way too cute!

Then we made our way inside the fire station for a few shots.  Love the moody look of these.

Know what they are having for dessert at their wedding?  Cobbler!!

Outfit and location change.  These last few take place on the land where Jessica grew up.

Love that dress.

In case you couldn’t tell, they are such a country-lovin’ couple.

Jessica requested a ring shot.  Why of course!

You guys!!

Zeph decided to propose on their three-year anniversary in Jessica’s backyard at the lake.  Right here!  (Side note: After Zeph proposed that evening, Jessica said I was the second person she called because she wanted to make sure I would have their date available to photograph their wedding.  WHAT?!  I’m crazy honored.)

Before Zeph proposed, Jessica told him that when she got a ring, she would get him a drone.  She kept her promise.

God provided a pretty amazing sky for us that evening.

Jessica and Zeph,

YOU GUYS!  Gah.  I love your relationship.  So happy you chose such meaningful places for your engagement session.  Thanks for seriously rocking your session.  We’re ready.  That’s right.  We’re ready for the wedding!

Caitlynn & Nick

I believe we tried to use our hoods to repel mosquitoes.  It wasn’t that effective.  (Sad face.)  On the right: Zeph showing Nick all those drone gadgets.  I think he wants one now.

August 13, 2017 - 11:53 am
