You better sit down, grab some popcorn, and get ready to be wowed by Emily and Rex’s wedding at the Industry in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Emily has been dreaming of this day for quite a long time. She even contacted us about photographing her wedding before Rex proposed!
She also knew that she wanted to get married at the Industry immediately after she had a tour. It has beautiful window light, space for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready, and is right in the center of Indianapolis.
Emily is incredibly thoughtful. I continually see her post and thank the people who helped make their day possible. She bought her dress from Sophia’s Bridal, Tux, & Prom in Indianapolis and had wonderful things to say about the store and her seamstress.
There she is! Facetiming a friend while getting her hair done.
The talented Erica Carrington from The Studio Suite in Greencastle styled Emily’s hair for the day.

Meet Rex! He takes Emily out on a weekly date without any prompting from her.
Say hello to Emily’s dad!
Emily got Rex a fancy knife (he cooks!) and a subscription to Grill Masters Club.
Rex got her a jewelry box from one of Emily’s favorite stores, Crate & Barrel. She used to keep her jewelry in a tackle box. Haha!
Someone suggested that we get a picture of Emily’s dress on the sliding doors. Emily’s wedding coordinator and father were quick to find a ladder and get it up there for us.

That’s Emily’s mama there in the middle.
There were some last minute changes to the first look. Nick suggested that Emily surprise Rex by hiding behind a wall that was directly in front of him. He thought she was going to walk up behind him and he would turn around. Nope! Surprise! Here is your bride!

As we were walking outdoors, I turn around and I see Emily looking like THIS! Girl, you have the best energy. They requested a few images in front of Lucas Oil Stadium since they are Colts fans. Check! (P.S. The Industry is actually this close to the stadium!)

Ugghhh!! You both look stunning.

That dress!
Rex was up for any and all pictures that Emily wanted.
Time to bring the wedding party out.
LOVE this crew! They’re the best at laughing.
So this is what was happening as I arrange the wedding party in the back.
Yes, yes, yes!!
See the pretty bridesmaid on the left? That’s Chelsea! In her speech, she said, “We have always had this mutual agreement and motto for our lives growing up. ‘There are two things in life that you should always be picky about – clothes and boys.’ I’m so glad we stuck to that motto. It has worked out pretty well for us.”

Rock, paper, scissors on your wedding day? Yep!
Tamma Kennedy was their wedding coordinator and made sure everything was perfect. She ran all kinds of errands and reminded Emily to breathe.
Hey there, Mr. Ring Bearer.
You know you have the best bride tribe when they help hold your dress while you visit the ladies’ room before the ceremony!
Marriage license. Check!
Man, oh, man! EMILY!! You are without a doubt one gorgeous bride. That dress was made for you!
The guys played a few card games while they were waiting on the ceremony to start.
Excitement and tears.

Sharing a small piece of their vows below.
Emily to Rex: You are the leader I have prayed for. You are selfless, compassionate; you are a relator, a comforter and protector. Thank you for caring deeply about the good and the bad. You are my earthly rock.
Rex to Emily: Your ability to see me at my worst and continue to love, support, and walk with me (sometimes very slowly) is what makes you my person.
Rex’s mama.
In the middle of their ceremony, Emily and Rex knelt down, prayed with each other, and shared communion.
Right after the first kiss.

Right after Emily and Rex’s ceremony ended, we all hopped in our vehicles and drove to the Monument Circle Downtown Indy because that’s the exact spot Rex proposed to Emily. Nick kept driving round and round the circle trying to find a place to park as the minutes ticked away. I decided to get out and start shooting without Nick since we only had a small amount of time before we had to get back for their reception. Nick and I often take turns holding our light setup for each other but because he was working on the parking, I asked Emily’s maid of honor, Alex, to hold a flash for me.
Alex: I’m on it! Tell me what to do!
Me: Move closer! Nope, go back. Higher, lower! Follow them!
So a huge shout-out to Alex as these images wouldn’t have happened without her.
While we were taking pictures, a proposal took place at the exact same spot Rex proposed to Emily a year ago. They told the newly engaged couple that they just got married, and their proposal also happened here!
Emily shared this sneak peek and posted, “My dress was ruined by this point, and bustling it for the reception was pointless because the bottom was so dirty, but I didn’t even care. BECAUSE PICTURES.”
Grand entrance. I showed a close friend this image and she said, “Her dress looks amaze-balls!”
Prayer before dinner.
Chelsea ended her speech with this – “Rex, I have had the privilege of growing up with Em. Now you have the privilege of growing old with her.”
Alex shared this with Emily and Rex. “When Emily turned twenty-eight, we were both ecstatic. You see, we had this saying. ‘Twenty-eight is going to be great.’ And great it was. You know why it was great? Because it was the year she fell in love with Rex.”

The cake cutting was pretty epic.

Alex, Emily’s maid of honor, was pretty adamant about catching the bouquet.

So many dance moves.
Emily was so glad Drew could make it to her wedding.
Meet Rex’s brother, Chad! In his speech, he talked about how Rex always has his brothers’ back. “Know that Sam and I would not be the men we are today without our big brother. We love you, and we could not be a family without you leading the charge.”

When this is still the level of excitement at the end of the wedding day, you know it was a good one!
Emily and Rex,
It was truly a privilege to photograph your day. You are such down-to-earth, kind-hearted people. Thank you for allowing us to tell your story.
Caitlynn & Nick
Andrew Diekmann created a fabulous video for them! You can check it out here! Andrew, it was a pleasure working with you!
Waiting on those cars to pass.
Gotta do what you gotta do.
